The UDS VDI broker supports VMware Cloud Director 10.1

by | May 5, 2020

The VDI and vApp connection broker UDS Enterprise is fully compatible with the new version of the VMware cloud management platform. This compatibility offers IT administrators the possibility to manage and deploy Windows and Linux virtual desktops and applications on VMware Cloud Director 10.1, thus enjoying the latest advances introduced in this solution.

One of the most striking changes is the name of the product, which goes from being called vCloud to Cloud Director. Among the technical enhancements we can highlight the improvements in UI navigation, appliance improvements, VM encryption exposed in the UI and App Launchpad. The full list is included in the release notes.

The integration of UDS Enterprise and Cloud Director allows you to leverage these two solutions to build a secure, efficient and easily scalable desktop and application virtualization infrastructure. Customers have a tailored environment at their fingertips, including all the functionalities of VMware’s Software Defined Data Center (SDDC). They can choose to host their virtual desktops and applications managed and deployed by UDS Enterprise in private, public and even hybrid cloud, with total elasticity to grow or decrease according to the real needs of the business, enjoying savings derived from implementing a VDI and vApp pay-as-you-go model.

In addition to Cloud Director, UDS Enterprise is compatible with other VMware technologies, like vSphere hypervisor, whose latest version is already supported by the VDI broker. UDS Enterprise has the distinction Partner Ready for vSphere, to which are added the Cloud Solutions and Data Center Badges granted by VMware. The first certifies the perfect interoperability of a desktop and application virtualization solution composed of UDS Enterprise and Cloud Director. The second refers to the optimal performance of a joint VDI and vApp solution made up of UDS Enterprise and vSphere.

The connection broker is available both on the VMware Solution Exchange marketplace and in the new VMware Cloud Marketplace, where only trusted solutions that have been verified for compatibility by the manufacturer are included.

There are other options to implement VDI and vApp with UDS Enterprise on a pay-per-use basis. You can visit the Cloud VDI section of our website for more information.
