Posted by UDS Enterprise Team |

The Open Source community in Africa organizes this week the I Open Source Festival in this continent. They all have a common interest: support for the open source and free software movement in Africa.

The event will begin on Thursday, February 20 and will continue until Saturday 22. During these three days, attendees will have the opportunity to attend talks, workshops, presentations... on thematic and Open Source tools. The latest trends in technology and the growth of Open Source in Africa will be some of the issues that will be addressed during the sessions.

In its first edition, Open Source Festival 2020 will be the perfect scenario for those interested in this topic to do networking and exchange ideas and experiences with other developers, laying the foundations for future collaborations in projects that can be beneficial for both parties and for the community in general.

Within the framework of this congress and with the collaboration of sustainOSS, the first Sustain Summit in Afric will be held on Thursday 20th. This event is aimed at maintainers of Open Source projects, where they will talk about the sustainability of both the resources and the people who produce them. Different experts will discuss how the cultural, financial and institutional problems that arise when working on these types of projects can be resolved.

With this festival, the Open Source community in Africa hopes to continue growing to join forces for open source. As they say on their website, they expect to move Africans from just the billion users to the next billion creators.
