OpenDesktop's source code has been released under AGPL license and KDE has used it to build a new application shop, where you can donate to developers, artists...
KDE is performing tests with different formats of applications in containers, such as Flatpak, Snap and AppImage. The developer may deliver the applications directly to the user, to reduce waiting times when updates are released.
