To install manually X11RDP (and XRDP) we will follow this simple steps. This will download the latest X11rdp and XRDP versions, install them and configure them.
Note: This has been tested on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, but there should be no problem with other installations.
The process is long. It will take more than 15 minutes to complete, so be patient, it will be a one time process and it's worth the waiting. Also, the script fully automatizes the download, compilation and installation of X11RDp and XRDP.
In this example, we used svn to checkout X11RDP-o-Matic:
svn co https://github.com/scarygliders/X11RDP-o-Matic/trunk X11RDP-o-Matic cd X11RDP-o-Matic sudo ./X11rdp-o-matic.sh --justdoit
And voila!
To check X11RDP-o-Matic options and usage, see this url: http://scarygliders.net/x11rdp-o-matic-information/
From here, proceed to setup the window manager as described in XRDP and UDS at Select your preferred window manager.
Althougth is recommended that you follow the instruction for creating your own packages, we provided here some packages that we have created and seems to work fine (we don't have anyway tested them intensibily):
Currently we haven't been capable of use spanish keyboard with latests X11RDP, so we recommend to avoid this. (havent tested setxkbmap -layout 'es,es' -model pc105 anyway, if any suggestion, please notify us)
This version is not longer supported, so try to avoid it
Testing right now
This is not a LTS, so we also avoid it
No issues found, following the "script" procedure all seems fine right now.
Again, not an LTS, avoid this if possible.
