The new version of the free and Open Source office suite par excellence is now available for download. In the LibreOffice 7.1 Community announcement, the Document Foundation explains that they have added the Community tag to emphasize that this software is not aimed at business nor does it meet their support needs. Thus, they accentuate the difference between the free edition and the Enterprise. Both are based on the LibreOffice Technology platform, available for desktop, cloud, and cloud operating systems.

Among the general enhancements of LibreOffice 7.1 Community, the incorporation of a new dialog box stands out to be able to choose from the beginning the type of user interface that is most suitable. The search for the paper size that best matches the document to be printed has also been improved. And the print preview is now updated asynchronously, so as not to crash the UI when adjusting settings in the print dialog. Adding a new extension in “Extension Manager” now shows all supported files and there is a new dialog box to find, get and install extensions with one click.

In the Writer word processor, a new Style inspector has been added that displays all paragraph attributes, characters, and manual formatting properties. This version can detect Unicode, the speed of find/replace operations has been improved and new images will have an anchor by default.

The Calc Spreadsheet now has an option to manage how to paste using the Enter key. It allows to easily select items in the AutoFilter window, which has improved the speed of find/replace operations.

All the new features of LibreOffice 7.1 Community have been developed by its community of volunteers. 73% have been the work of company developers who are part of the Advisory Council at the request of their clients.
