Fedora 33 Beta available for testing

The Fedora Project announced the availability of Fedora 33 Beta, the latest release of this version before the stable one, which is expected to be launched at the end of October.

Among the new features of Fedora 33 Beta, in the official announcement the use of BTRFS as the default filesystem is highlighted. This change introduces user-friendly features such as transparent compression and "copy-on-write". At the moment, only basic features are incorporated, but little by little more advantages of this system will be added.

The default text editor has also been changed. Now it is nano, more accessible and easy to use. Even though nano comes by default, vim, emacs, or any other editor can still be used.

This Beta of Fedora includes the latest versions of packages such as Ruby, Python and Perl . On the other hand, .NET Core becomes available in aarch64 and x86_64. Support for Python 2.6, Python 3.4, and httpd mod_php is discontinued. The latter is replaced by php-fpm, which is more secure and has higher performance.

New features added to the Workstation Edition include GNOME 3.38, default animated wallpapers, and better thermal management and performance for Intel CPUs.
Fedora IoT becomes an official edition of Fedora. It is aimed at peripheral devices and is compatible with a wide variety of hardware platforms. It is based on ostree technology and includes Platform AbstRaction for SECurity (PARSEC), which provides a common API for hardware security and cryptographic services.

The Fedora Project team encourages the entire community to test Fedora 33 Beta and report any bugs or missing features in order to finish outlining the stable version. It can now be downloaded from Get Fedora site:
