The Government of Poland is increasing the adoption of Linux. The Social Insurance Institution of this country (ZUS for its acronym in Polish) has implemented an integrated virtualization solution for Linux servers. The installation and maintenance of this infrastructure is carried out by the Polish company Linux Polska. Over the next three years, they will provide 24x7 support to this institution.

ZUS (Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych) depends on the Polish Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and is responsible for managing all data and accounting for social health insurers in the country. This public body already uses Linux as the operating system for the E-contribution payment system. They have now decided to implement virtualized Linux clusters to scale and automate IT processes.

Linux Polska has been responsible for implementing Red Hat virtualization, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux solutions. In addition to the cost savings involved in adopting open technology, ZUS IT department will enjoy interesting benefits: they will be able to manage multiserver systems in a simple and centralized way, they can configure applications and resources in high availability mode, will improve security, scalability and performance

“We are pleased that ZUS has chosen our offer and has decided to develop IT systems based on stable, efficient and secure Open Source solutions that provide significant business benefits. The combination of open virtualization solutions and administration in an integrated platform will facilitate the delivery of efficient and stable services, thanks to which ZUS will be able to concentrate on increasing the quality of services for its customers”, values Grzegorz Sułkowski, Vice President of Linux Polska.

Among other agencies and ministries in Poland, the National Health Fund, the Ministry of Digitalization, the Central Center for Information Technology, the Ministry of Justice, Finance, Digitalization and Education also rely on Linux Polska for different IT projects.
