As usual, our connection broker UDS Enterprise will star in several presentations at the next RedIRIS Technical Conference.
The University of the Balearic Islands will give a talk on "How to simplify and centralize IT management and maintenance with VDI". In this lecture, they will explain how desktop virtualization with UDS Enterprise has allowed them to tackle the complexity of their IT infrastructure, which has two different and heterogeneous environments: one for Administration and Services Staff and other for students.
They will reveal how the university's VDI platform is built, the different software components used and how they interact with each other. They will also talk about the hardware that supports the infrastructure and how the IT team configures, manages and deploys 27,000 virtual desktops per month in a fast, secure and very simple way.
This presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 29 at 12 a.m. in Room A at the Rector's Office of the University of Seville, within the session on Virtualization.
The last presentation of this same session on Virtualization will also focus on the experience of another of our clients with UDS Enterprise. The Public University of Navarra will show how the implementation of virtual desktops in the computer rooms has been carried out, using the solution composed of UDS Enterprise for the deployment of VDI, Acropolis AHV as hypervisor and Nutanix as hardware platform where the whole solution runs.
Among other technical details, they will explain the configuration of the different elements of the solution, the diverse access methods to the platform, the provision of resources taking into account the intensive use of virtual desktops in the computer rooms, the segmentation of students and teachers depending on the type of programs to which they have access, the different user roles and how they are grouped... And they will also talk about the benefits obtained thanks to the implementation of this VDI solution.
In the Working Groups prior to the Conference, at the Docencia-net meeting that will take place on Tuesday, May 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the progress of OpenGnsys will be addressed. One of the projects developed with this software, in which UDS Enterprise plays a fundamental role is RemotePC. Its main purpose is to allow remote access to computers in universities’ ICT classrooms during non-school hours from anywhere and using any device.
The XXX RedIRIS Technical Conference and the Working Groups will be held on May 28, 29 and 30 at the Rector's Office of the University of Seville. Registration is open until tomorrow, May 17. You can register here.
