At the end of last November, the Ciudad Real Campus of the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM hosted the 46th edition of the RedIRIS Working Groups. As usual, the progress of the OpenGnsys Project was discussed within the Docencia-Net forum.
Irina Gómez, Programmer of the Computing Center of the ETS of Computer Engineering of the University of Seville (US), was in charge of presenting the innovations introduced in the recently launched maintenace release OpenGnsys 1.1.0a.
Gomez explained that after the implementation of OpenGnsys 1.1.0 in many universities, the main objective of this new version is to incorporate improvements and correct the issues reported by the user community. The changes made include:
Better support for discs with 4K sectors. Now they partition correctly.
Update the repository of OpenGnsys in Git and register in GitHub.
Correction of anomalies when rotating log files.
Multicast session on client computers. In this new release all OpenGnsys clients, even the oldest ones, support timeout without issues.
API Rest. Computers with comments can now be added and you can program the shutdown of devices at any time of the day.
Improvements in the console.
1) More information has been added in "Help" section: access to the user manual is found easil, new documentation on the API, client configuration...
2) Users now receive a notification if there is a computer that does not have a repository assigned. In addition, a search can be carried out to find out if there are devices of this type within the platform.
