Uber, the company that connects car drivers with passengers through a mobile application has become Gold member of the Linux Foundation. This company has also joined TODO Group, an open group of companies that collaborate in the development of tools and good practices for Open Source projects.
The Gold membership of the Linux Foundation will provide Uber with direct access to technologies and projects such as Open Network Automation Platform, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Hyperledger, EdgeX Foundry, Automotive Grade Linux, and Core Infrastructure Initiative.
Thuan Pham, Uber's CTO explained that "Open Source technology is the backbone of many of Uber's core services and, as we continue to mature, these solutions will be increasingly important".
From Linux Foundation, they value the incorporation of Uber in a very positive way: "this company has been influential in the Open Source community for years. Their experience will be critical to keep moving forward on open solutions for native cloud technologies, deep learning, data visualization and other technologies that are critical for today's companies", said Jim Zemlin, executive director of the organization.
