The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) is one of many universities that have relied for years on UDS Enterprise to deploy and manage their virtual desktops.
"UDS Enterprise is the perfect VDI solution for us", explained Julio Álvarez, Support Systems Manager of UAM, who highlighted "easy setup, optimal user experience, flexibility and appealing design" as some of the software strengths.
Álvarez pointed out "the possibility to deploy Windows and Linux virtual desktops and choose the hypervisor, authenticator and connection protocol that best suited our needs".
The administrative staff, teachers and students work currently with different virtual operating systems, like Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 authenticated through Active Directory on VMware vSphere using RDP and NX protocols to access.
The University hired the desktop virtualization project design and deployment to UDS Enterprise team. Initially, they requested 200 users but the project grew up soon to 33.000 thanks to the great results and UDS Enterprise's scalability possibilities.
Students, university staff and IT administrators access virtual desktops using computers, laptops and mobile devices, encouraging the use of personal devices and university's resources anywhere and anytime.
