The cloud has come to stay. According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Cloud IT Infrastructure Tracker, during Q3 of 2014 total cloud infrastructure revenue for the quarter grew over $6.5 billion, 16 % higher than that in the same dates of 2013.
These data highlight the rise of the cloud phenomenon. In fact, the consultant explains in its report that during the last months of the year one third of the budget spent on "infrastructure of servers, storage on disk and Ethernet switch" was intended for cloud computing.
Regarding 2015 forecast, IDC predicts that the cost of cloud services will rise to 118,000 million dollars. Part of this budget could be allocated to IaaS, SaaS and PaaS solutions.
